연쇄 살인 사건이 벌어지고 있는 부에노스 아이레스에서 극장을 운영하는 애드리언(콜린 퍼스)은 어머니가 정신병으로 요양중인데다 극장 수입이 적어 쪼들리게 되자 방을 세 놓는다. 여기에 매력적인 미국인 청년 잭(하트 보크너)이 이사를 오고 폐쇄적인 애드리언과는 달리 특유의 친화력으로 이웃들과 금새 친해진다. 애드리언은 잭이 연쇄 살인 사건의 범인일지 모른다고 생각하지만...
