남아프리카에 알 수 없는 바이러스가 창궐해 빠르게 좀비가 늘어간다. 미국으로 떠날 계획이었던 헨리는 맹장 수술을 받기 위해 병원 수술대에 눕게 된다. 그가 마취된 사이 병원에 좀비 바이러스가 퍼져 대부분 죽거나 좀비가 된다. 헨리의 구조요청을 들은 의사 수넷은 헨리와 남자 간호사 시세코, 조카 빈센트와 함께 병원을 탈출한다. 네 사람은 시세코의 아들 아얀다를 구조해 탈출하기 위한 계획을 세우게 되는데...
