청조가 무너지자 중국은 전쟁의 격랑에 직면한다. 혁명지도자 손문(조문선 분)의 동지이기도 한 송사리(강문 분)는 손문의 혁명활동을 적극 도우며 막역한 친구사이가 되고 공화국을 설립한다. 송사리에게는 미국에서 교육을 받고 돌아 온 세 자매가 있는데 그는 세자매들에게 새로운 중국건설에 참여해 주길 바란다. 정치나 경제방면의 뛰어난 수단가이면서 사랑다운 사랑을 할 줄 알았던 애령은 산서의 부호 공상희와 결혼하여 다른이들보다 한 발 앞서는 감각으로 은행업을 시
