동남아의 어느 중국인 마을. 한 아이가 악어에게 물리는 사건이 발생한다. 한때 유명한 생물학자이자 탐험가였던 뤄한은 그 악어가 지옥섬에서 온 것임을 알아본다. 마침 재벌 그룹 회장 밍주가 지옥섬 근처에서 조난당한 남동생 쯔하오를 찾아달라며 뤄한을 찾아오고, 뤄한은 밍주 일행과 함께 지옥섬으로 향한다. 지옥섬에서 그들이 마주한 것은 정체를 알 수 없는 거대한 악어의 발자국, 이곳에 존재하면 안 될 살인 꽃 라플레시아와 거머리, 지옥을 연상케 하는 생명체들
