청나라 말기, 대륙을 뒤흔든 독보적 애국 무술가 ‘곽원갑’. 상인들에 대한 관리인들의 횡포에 맞서는 그의 모습을 지켜보던 혁명당원 ‘농경심’은 ‘곽원갑’에게 동경회의 비밀 임무를 함께 할 것을 제안하고, 두 사람은 함께 길을 나선다. 힘겨운 여정 끝에 도착한 마을, 그 곳에서 악인들의 공격으로 목숨을 잃고 터전을 빼앗긴 마을 사람들을 목격하게 되는데… ‘곽원갑’과 ‘농경심’은 자신들의 본래 임무를 제쳐두고 마을을 지키기 위한 전쟁에 뛰어들게 된다.
