영일은 기차역에서 먼 친척이자 옛 친구인 용식을 우연히 만나 가벼운 안부 뒤에 만남을 기약하고 돌아선다. 그 날 저녁, 영일은 한 의문의 남자의 죽음을 알리며 유골을 처리해야 한다는 한 통의 전화를 받게 되고 어머니로부터 죽음의 남자가 용식의 부친임을 알게 되는데 제 한 몸 건사하지도 못하는 덕호는 부인의 장례식장에 늑장 부리듯 나타나 처가 식구들의 원망을 받으며 내쫓기듯 빈소 밖으로 내몰린다. 한편 밤일을 하며 생계를 유지하던 은미는 세상에 하나밖에
