어머니를 만나러 한국을 찾은 젊은이가 있다. 이름은 젠첸. 중국에 사는 조선족 아버지가 죽기 전 아내를 다시 보고 싶다고 해서 한국에 온 것이다. 막상 14년 만에 만난 어머니는 기대했던 모습이 아니다. 술집에서 일하면서 건달처럼 보이는 남자와 같이 살고 있다. 젠첸은 어머니의 애인을 인정할 수 없고 그 직업 또한 이해할 수 없다. 젠첸은 어머니에게 서운한 감정만 갖고 중국으로 돌아가지만 어머니가 남긴 공책 한 권을 통해 하나둘 어머니의 과거에 대해 알
