육이는 손오공의 공격으로 다친 요괴 자등을 구하기 위해 손오공으로 가장해 삼장법사를 죽이고 불경을 가져온다는 요왕의 계획에 동의한다. 신분을 증명하기 위해 육이와 손오공은 여러 차례 겨루지만 사람들은 누가 진짜고 누가 가짜인지 구별할 수가 없다. 점차 육이마저 자신의 신분을 잊고 자신이 손오공이라고 굳게 믿게 되어 중생의 안녕을 위해 손오공과 최후의 대결을 펼치려 하는데
