시내 음식점에서 범죄 조직이 모두 독가스에 질식해 죽은 채 발견되고 죽은 피해자의 폐에서는 다른 사람의 DNA가 발견된다. 배리 일행이 메타휴먼의 존재를 의심하는 사이 쇼핑몰에서 판사가 독가스 공격으로 질식해 숨지는 사건이 발생하고 배리는 범인을 뒤쫓지만 오히려 공격당해 독가스에 질식할 위험에 처한다. 다행히 케이틀린의 도움으로 목숨을 건진 배리는 범인의 다음 목표가 조 형사라는 사실을 알고 그를 구하려 달려가는데…
