46도를 넘나드는 살인적인 폭염과 식수 부족과 싸우는 것이 힘들지만 슬렌지와 렉키 그리고 나머지 부대원들은 펠렐리우 비행장을 폭격하려는 적들에 맞서 싸운다. 동료가 끔찍한 부상을 당하는 것을 목격한 후 렉키 자신또한 부상을 당하고 섬에서 탈출한다. 슬렌지는 가끔은 살아남기 위해 어떤 것이 필요하고 또 싸우기 위해서는 어때야 하는지에 관한 충격적인 진실에 대한 증인이 되었다.
