오래 전 난파된 배에 타고 있던 한 만삭의 여인이 바다 위로 솟구치고, 섬에 있던 또 다른 여인이 만삭의 여자를 도와 아이를 낳을 수 있게 해 준다. 제이콥이라는 이름의 사내아이가 태어나고, 잠시 후 생각지도 못했던 쌍둥이 동생이 태어난다. 섬에 있던 여인은 쌍둥이의 엄마를 돌로 쳐 죽이고 두 아이를 키운다.
